TLC Workshop: Teaching Science to Students Outside the Pipeline, March 3

Teaching Science to Students Outside the Pipeline
Tuesday, March 03, 2020
5:00 โ€“ 7:00 PM
Room C201

Significant effort is put into the recruitment and retention of students into the pipeline – the curricular path students follow to major in STEM. Often, science courses provide a foundation for majors while also satisfying general education requirements. This can generate tension and confusion for instructors as students enter science classrooms and labs with diverse backgrounds, language and quantitative skills, levels of interest, and disciplinary trajectories. Striking a balance in pedagogical approach to meet these diverse needs can be a challenge.

Join the Teaching and Learning Center for a workshop on March 3 where we will explore the similarities and differences of teaching students outside the pipeline differs from teaching majors with a focus on developing inclusive learning objectives, assignments, and assessments that serve all students.
