TLC Institutes

The Teaching and Learning Center hosts Institutes that support faculty in the development of applied, pedagogical approaches on a variety of topics. Over the course of multiple meetings, the TLC’s institutes foster a community of practice among faculty and graduate student participants through seminars, panels, field trips, workshops, and interdisciplinary working sessions.

Each summer the TLC hosts the Teach@CUNY Institute for graduate students preparing to teach at CUNY for the first time. In collaboration with Graduate Center Digital Initiatives, the TLC hosted the Open Education and Publishing Institutes for faculty developing Open Educational Resources and open publications. The STEM Pedagogy Institute invited faculty and graduate student instructors from various STEM disciplines to examine, develop, and implement inclusive and employment-focused teaching strategies in STEM courses. Most recently, the TLC has developed the Critical AI Literacy Institute to bring together dozens of faculty from a variety of disciplines to consider the potential risks and benefits of generative AI for teaching and learning within specific areas of study.
