Informal Statement of Teaching Philosophy Discussion

On the heels of this week’s Drafting a Statement of Teaching Philosophy workshop the Teaching and Learning Center will be hosting an informal session next Wednesday, October 14, from 5:30-7:00pm, where students crafting such statements can meet for feedback and conversation from each other and attending TLC staff.

Please indicate your interest in this session by filling out this form: https://forms.gle/Kuc7rj1GGhqvoEM19.

Below are some guiding questions to work through before attending that session:

  • Whatโ€™s the most important element of your teaching, and how can you highlight that?
  • What open questions do you have about your approach to drafting this statement?
  • Whatโ€™s a specific example of an assignment or experience from your teaching that reflects your philosophy?

You may also schedule a consultation with the Writing Center to talk through your statement via this link: https://gcwritingcenter.commons.gc.cuny.edu/book-an-appointment/.

TLC staff are also available to meet with you to talk about approaches to your statement, or any other matters related to your teaching. To request an appointment, please visit https://cuny.is/tlc-office-hours.
