TLC Workshops: Fostering Student Engagement with Digital Tools & Creating OER with students on Manifold

Fostering Student Engagement with Free & Open Digital Tools
Wednesday, November 2; 1:00-2:30pm
Facilitator: Laurie Hurson (TLC)

Active learning and participation are two core components of student-centered pedagogy. Using free digital tools, instructors can develop activities and assignments that foster student engagement in the classroom and with course materials. During the workshop we will explore digital tools that cultivate engagement beyond the usual raise-your-hand and speak. Attendees will have time to try out different technologies and discuss how they might use the tools in their own course.

This workshop will be held on Zoom. Please register beforehand: https://gc-cuny-edu.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwkduCuqzMpHteV7-Azn9HewlY3AGXWpTrW

Are you looking for new ways to…

  • publish student created work?Β
  • improve students’ digital literacy?
  • develop student engagement through collaborative writing projects?
  • create opportunities for students to engage with course materials?

The Manifold digital publishing platform provides instructors and students with the space to create OER that are multi-media rich, reflect the diversity of our classrooms through digital projects, and present students as knowledge creators.

Please join the Teaching and Learning Center & the Graduate Center Digital Initiatives on Monday, November 7th for a workshop on Creating OER with Students on Manifold. In the workshop we will share pedagogical approaches to support student OER creation as well as examples of assignments and student projects created on Manifold.
