TLC Talk: Teaching Through Crises

Teaching Through Crises
Feb 28, 2023
1pm, The Graduate Center Dining Commons, 8th Floor

Facilitated byย Shima Houshyar and Ana Flavia Badue

Over the last few years, the word โ€œcrisisโ€ has become a zeitgeist of our collective consciousness. From the pandemic, to uprisings for racial justice, to political upheavals around the world, to the climate crisis, and the crisis of higher education and CUNY in particular, we seem to be living in an endless series of crises. How do we, as educators, incorporate the multitude of crises into our teaching? What does โ€œcrisisโ€ have to teach us about teaching? How do we exhibit care for ourselves, our fellow teachers, and our students while teaching through moments of crises? Join the Teaching and Learning Center for an informal conversation around the pedagogy of crisis and the crisis of pedagogy and how we can incorporate a hopeful politics in our teaching practice.

This event is co-sponsored by the Doctoral and Graduate Students Council, who will be providing lunch for attendees.
